Malaysian cabbies worse problem than dirty toilets: minister
A top minister slammed Malaysia's taxi drivers Wednesday, saying they were more of a problem for the tourism industry than the nation's notoriously filthy toilets.
"The complaints by tourists about the taxi drivers' behaviour are more than toilets now, so in that context the taxi drivers are worse than dirty toilets," cabinet minister Nazri Aziz said.
"People are complaining about the taxi drivers overcharging, being impolite and not using their meters, forcing the tourists to bargain with them," he told AFP.
"This is the third-world taxi driver mentality. Even in China now, taxi drivers can no longer (haggle), they just have to take the passengers, no questions asked.
"It's not that all taxi drivers behave like that, it's just a small group of them but that is already giving Malaysia a bad name," said Nazri, who is minister in the prime minister's department.
Complaints about taxis are common the world over, but it has become a hot topic in Malaysia where frustrations are vented on blog sites and in letters to newspapers.

Volkswagen Steals Toyota's Crown as World's Largest Automaker
The people want an empire, apparently, with that unassuming little black VW bug at the head of it.
The U.K.’s Guardian explains, "Volkswagen-Porsche has overtaken Toyota to become the world's largest car manufacturer as the German group benefits from state-backed stimulus packages around the globe." VW has "produced 4.4 million vehicles so far this year, outstripping its Japanese rival which has seen four million cars roll off production lines since January."

Michael Jackson Converting to Islam
The King Of Pop may be leaving the Kingdom Hall for the Kaaba. Rumors that Michael Jackson may be changing his religion surfaced after his brother, Jermaine Jackson said it is likely that the 48-year old entertainer will convert to Islam. Jermaine said: "I think it is most probable that Michael Jackson Converting to Islam
Michael will convert to Islam." "When I came back from Mecca I got him a lot of books and he asked me lots of things about my religion and I told him that it's peaceful and beautiful. He read everything and he was proud of me that I found something that would give me inner strength and peace. He could do so much, just like I am trying to do. Michael and I and the word of God, we could do so much."The recent comments by Jermaine are being taken as breaking news. In reality, Michael's intentions to convert to Islam were reported as far back as November of 2005 in a report released on the website of the Arab-Israeli newspaper, Panorama. The report was based on information elicited from sources in Bahrain. At that time Jackson had officially announced that he had been following the five tenets of Islam and intended to convert to Islam.
