Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan today brushed aside Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Sept 16 deadline to topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
"Nothing will happen (tomorrow) and someone will give excuses why it didn't happen," he told reporters after British High Commissioner Boyd McCleary paid a courtesy call at his office in Petra Jaya, here.
Dr Chan, who is also Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) president, said all the 30 BN members of parliament (MPs) from Sarawak, including the six from SUPP, would not cross over to back Anwar.
But he also said that change in the BN component parties was vital for the betterment of the people.
"The country demands change, even the Americans want change. I told my SUPP fellows that if 'you don't change, people will change you'. So, it is important that change must take place when necessary.
