The big question last season when shopping for a new TV was whether or not to invest in a HDTV ready set. That is no longer the question. Prices today are comparable between standard TVs and HDTV compatible ones that it's a no-brainer to go with a HDTV ready set. HDTV ready televisions feature many more lines of resolutions than what older TVs display can do. This results in a much sharper and more life-like picture for the viewers. HDTVs also feature a wilder screen that promotes a more natural viewing experience. Lastly, many HDTV programs also offer multi-channel surround sound.
So the question is not whether to purchase a HDTV, but what kind of HDTV to purchase? We have three consumer choices: Plasma, LCD, or DLP. Here's a brief look at the pros and cons of each and our recommended pick in each category.
Plasma TV
Plasma TV contain an array of tiny pixels, which contain phosphors corresponding to the colors red, green and blue. A mixture of gases are then stimulated by electricity, which produces the picture.
Pros: Plasma produce the most lifelike and vibrant images. They're also ideal for those looking for a big screen experience, yet still want a display that is svelte enough to be wall mounted. The life span of a plasma display is up to 60,000 hours. Plasma TVs enjoy a wide viewing angle, usually as wide as 160 degrees or more, so they're great for near field viewing with multiple users in the room.
Cons: Price - compared to other TVs, plasma is usually the most expensive. Plasma TVs also suffer from phosphor "burn in" caused by static images being left on the screen for too long. Plasma televisions also use more power and tend to run hotter than other types of TV displays.
The article above is taken from one of popular blog. Anyway, this is my opinion about Plasma and LCD TV. The most popular are Sharp and Sony due to uptodate technology by research. No matter what brand is what is your objective TV or DVD/LCD. If you fond of watching TV program , Plasma is the best for you. The reason are TV signal is analog so Plasma accept the analog frequency better than digital.
For LCD is for digital movie lover, if LCD use for TV analog the image is look breaking up and blur. So DVD and LCD/HDTC are the best combination.
So any body got other opinion? Thanks
